How we test intimate-wellness devices

Every device on Uliann is bought with our own money at full retail. We never accept review units, and a brand cannot pay to change a score. Here is exactly what happens between the box arriving and a verdict going live.

Do we accept free units?

No. If a brand sends a product, we return it or buy it. A score earned with a free device is a score nobody should trust, and our whole point is that you can trust ours.

What do we measure?

We score five dimensions, each out of ten: design and build quality, real-world performance, battery life, noise and discretion, and value for money. The overall is a straight average of the five, never weighted by preference.

How do we test noise?

We use a sound-meter app one metre from the device on a hard surface, averaged across the lowest and highest useful steps, then again through a closed door. Apartment-friendly means below roughly 45 dB at one metre.

How do we test battery?

From a full charge to the moment the indicator dies, on a mixed-use cycle. We report the real number even when it falls short of the box claim, because the claim is marketing and you live with the reality.

How long does a review take?

At least fourteen days of actual use before we publish. A device can feel great on night one and annoying by week two; we wait out the honeymoon so you do not have to.

How do affiliate links work?

Some links may be affiliate links, meaning a commission if you buy — at no extra cost to you. They never change a score, and we link only to the brand’s own product page, never to a rival or a factory we also review.
