Why app-controlled is the fastest-growing shelf
Search demand for app-controlled and Bluetooth-connected vibrators has grown every year since 2022, and the buyers converting best are couples-market and long-distance-relationship audiences. For a brand, an app SKU also creates a retention channel that a button-only product never has.
What "app-controlled" actually means at factory level
Three levels exist, and the price difference is significant:
- **Remote only.** A wireless remote on 2.4 GHz. No app. Cheapest, ships fastest.
- **White-label app.** The factory's existing app gets your logo, color scheme and product profiles. Fastest route to "app-connected" on the box.
- **Custom BLE firmware.** Your own app or SDK, with custom control logic, patterns and partner-link features. Requires an NDA and a development quotation.
What MOQ should you expect?
Hardware MOQ stays at 300 units for standard colors. White-label app variants effectively start at 500 units because the app build and store listing carry fixed costs. Custom firmware is quoted per project — expect 20–30 days added before sampling.
Compliance checklist before you commit
- Radio regulations in the destination market: FCC (US), CE-RED (EU), MIC/技適 (Japan)
- Battery transport: UN38.3 and IEC 62133 documentation per battery model
- Data privacy: if your app collects accounts, GDPR and Japan's APPI both apply — decide who is the data controller before launch
How to brief a factory
Send the control variant you want (remote / white-label / custom), the destination market, and whether the app must link multiple devices. A working factory answers with a feasibility note and quotation within 2 working days.
